Bouliac, Bordeaux & Surroundings

Chez Alriq — Bordeaux

Whether you're staying for a weekend or a longer holiday, this guide highlights some of our favourite places in Bouliac, Bordeaux and the surrounding area. From local markets and family-run restaurants to iconic guinguettes and vineyard experiences, here are our ideas to make the most of your stay.

Bouliac — Local Shops & Restaurants

Bouliac is a charming village just minutes from Bordeaux, with excellent local shops and great places to eat.

Les Halles Vettiner

This small marketplace brings together a high-quality bakery, butcher and brasserie. The butcher offers excellent meats, charcuterie, sausages for the BBQ and a nice selection of wine. The bakery is known for its great bread, pastries and delicious cakes.

Friday Morning Market

Every Friday morning, Bouliac hosts a small but very good-quality market at the Halles Vettiner — with a florist, fruit and vegetable stall, fishmonger and cheesemonger.

Romanesque Church

History lovers will enjoy visiting the village's Romanesque church, whose interior was entirely renovated in the 19th century.

Le Saint-James (Reopening May 2026)

Bouliac is home to Le Saint-James, a Relais & Châteaux hotel. When it reopens, it will feature both a bistro-style restaurant and a gastronomic restaurant (previously awarded one Michelin star).

La Terrasse — Takeaway Pizza

A simple and reliable option for very good takeaway pizzas.

La Métairie de Terrefort ⭐

Highly recommended for a romantic dinner or an evening with friends. The setting is beautiful and the food is consistently excellent.

Bordeaux — Restaurants & Places We Love

Bordeaux offers endless dining and leisure options. Here are a few places we genuinely recommend.

Chez Alriq ⭐

The iconic Bordeaux guinguette: ideal for a drink, a casual meal and live music in a laid-back outdoor setting.

Monzù

Excellent Italian cuisine — fresh, generous and perfect for a lunch break during your visit of Bordeaux.

Le Bar de la Marine

A simple, relaxed "guinguette" set in a charming leafy courtyard. Very friendly atmosphere.

Les Halles de Bacalan

A lively indoor food court with stalls specialising in seafood, truffle dishes, Italian food, French classics and more. Perfect for groups where everyone wants something different.

Mazal ⭐

Fantastic oriental–fusion cuisine. Come for the food, stay for the atmosphere — on Saturday nights, people end up dancing on the bar.

A few local favourites just outside Bouliac.

Chez Croq

Too tired to cook? Chez Croq is a small container-style food truck run by two sisters, serving excellent burgers and comforting homemade dishes.

La Guinguette Lauduc

We haven't had the chance to try it yet, but this vineyard-side guinguette looks very promising: generous sharing plates, drinks and a selection of local wines in a beautiful setting.
